Robin Guterman has been described by clients and families as a compassionate, focused, talented therapist who easily builds rapport upon the initial session. Her active participation, honesty and ability to identify the issues surrounding the presenting problem is unique and individually catered. Former clients recite her motto with both endearing humor and definitive understanding, knowing it takes, “consistency in actions over time” to heal and to create healthy change in one’s life. More often than not, they will say with confidence, “Robin got more out of me in the first session than all the therapists I’ve worked with combined.”
Robin grew up between New York and Texas and through her own experiences and education, developed sensitivity and intuition when it came to interacting with people. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and interned in the Austin County jail, as well as in economically-challenged schools helping children struggling with behavioral, familial and environmental issues. She moved back to New York in 1992 and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University-Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 1994.
Robin passionately stands by her method in treating families – it is both personal and professional and stems from the belief that treatment is a parallel process: all members of the family system need to work as a team to create long term success.
